At Pellow we pride ourselves on bringing skill, knowledge and expertise to our customer’s projects. And that approach is the same whether we are working on re-roofing a small area such as the flat roof on the Portscatho weather watch station, a large expanse such as the roof of the underground offices at Trevissome Park, or a luxury home.

Whatever the project we know that an attention to detail allied to a professional approach can help to deliver a waterproofing solution which meets the needs of the customer. We are also aware that, particularly when it comes to new-build projects, we are only one part of a team; working with skilled builders and architects to bring ideas to life.

That was certainly the case for one project in Downderry. Designed by Alec Macleod from Intelligent Design Solutions in Architecture, Reflections is a bespoke four storey property built on a steeply sloping and exposed site with stunning views from Looe to Rame Head. The nature of the site led the lead builder, Stanchura, to come up with some innovative solutions including concrete being offloaded from trucks into 6 tonne dumpers and delivered down the hillside in reverse.

In this Stanchura were able to bring their own expertise to the project as one of the UK’s leading ICF Construction companies. An in-situ concrete system of building; insulated concrete formwork (ICF) delivers an energy efficient sustainable building with excellent acoustic insulation properties.

Our contribution to the project was in installing a waterproofing solution for the roof of the property. This project called for a Danosa hybrid fully adhered single ply solution over 160mm of insulation. The roofing membrane in this case was Danosa’s Danpol+ HSF 1.8 in dark grey. This is a synthetic plasticized membrane reinforced with polyester net carrier and a 300gr geotextile fleece backing.

Suitable for residential, commercial and industrial projects this Danosa waterproofing solution has high dimensional stability and high tensile strength. It also has a high value of resistance to wind suction and has very good resistance to UV radiation and weathering, all important considerations given the location of this property. And as you can see from the pictures, this product also adapts well to flat roofs which are not flat, another plus point when imaginative designs call for creative solutions.
