Danosa: getting the inside view

As with a lot of things in life, when it comes to building or flat roofing there is no one single right answer. After all, how do you choose between single ply and built up felt, mastic asphalt or cold applied liquid roofing.  Should you look towards installing a living green roof, and what is the best non-slip application for walkways and balconies.  All this before you look towards other waterproofing applications such as tanking for underground areas, safeguarding swimming pools from leaks or even waterproofing the base of structures such as wind turbines.

That’s not to say that some proposed solutions shouldn’t even be considered! But those aside, the choice of product material will depend on a range of factors including building type and design, client preference, cost, and product longevity.

When all these factors and more are taken into consideration there is generally one preferred solution which stands out, but that solution will vary from project to project. It’s one of the reasons why our job can be so varied and so interesting, providing flat roofing solutions for a range of properties across Cornwall. Along the way we work with architects, builders and others in order to deliver a great waterproofing solution for residential and commercial properties.

One of the things that helps us to do our job to the best of our ability is the close working relationship which we have with manufacturers of waterproofing solutions. This enables us to really build up a deep understanding of the product and therefore help our customers to choose the optimum solution for them.

One such chance to improve our product knowledge came earlier this year. As an approved contractor for the Cefil range of waterproofing products, their tie-up with Danosa brought a wider range of solutions for us to recommend to clients.  We were therefore really pleased to be invited by Danosa to visit their factory in Madrid.  Not only did this give us the opportunity to see the Danosa waterproofing products in manufacture, we had the chance to speak with the developers, furthering our understanding of the products and their optimum application.

Amongst the highlights of the tour was the chance to see some of the rigorous testing which Danosa products undergo before being released for use. The Danosa team were really welcoming and having a chance to see their products in the early stages of manufacture helped us to cement our knowledge of the Danosa waterproofing systems.
